I’m Roxane Cohanim, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families. I am licensed in California and authorized to provide telehealth services to clients in Colorado.
I believe meaningful change begins with feeling deeply understood. Symptoms and behaviors rarely tell the whole story. They often express something that is difficult to recognize or put into words. My style is warm, engaged, and thoughtful. I help clients understand the emotions and patterns behind their difficulties, while developing practical ways to navigate everyday life and relationships.
My perspective has been shaped by nearly a decade of clinical experience across private practice, child and family mental health, college counseling, and community mental health. My work is grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. My training includes the two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the Psychoanalytic Center of California and ongoing training and supervision with Joshua Durban, a renowned child and adult psychoanalyst. I also draw from psychodynamic play therapy, reflective parenting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.
I earned my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Child and Family Mental Health and Wellness from Boston College. At the center of my work is a therapeutic relationship where clients feel known and respected, complexity is welcome, and there is room for warmth, honesty, humor, and hope.
